Animate a list line after line

I am trying to simulate this effect within the WordPress plugin.

It loads a line, then loads another line in the same place.

However, I would like to make it work more like this:

I would like to style each Noun in Sans-serif, hold for 2000ms, then it fades out + up, while the next text line fades in + up. Each line has slightly different sizing and leading needs to fill out each part of the design, as indicated in the Vimeo link.

Can this be accomplished inside WordPress, or do I need to do it in the Javascript version instead?
