• It must be me, but again I can’t login. I just could, but now I can’t. I even changed the password right from within the database! It doesn’t work! I send myself a new password by mail, still doesn’t work.
I mean, when I change the username and password in the database, the login should work or not?

  • I’m having the same problems as moxie. upgraded a few days ago, been working fine up til now. I logged out and now I can’t log in again. This is not the first time I’ve logged out and back in since the upgrade either, but the second. I’ve also deleted my cookies etc and am using the password from the email I sent to myself just to be sure. And nothing.
There is no logical reason for this to be happening. I would really like to get back into my blog, and would also really really like to not reinstall everything. I just don’t have time for that, not to mention there is several years worth of entries in there I don’t want to mess with if I don’t have to.

Hmm, the page was shpwing me as logged in when I posted that, well I think. Anyway, the last post was me.

Just to confuse the issue, I figured since I couldn’t use my own blog I’d work on one I’m designing for a friend. But I can’t log in there either. It’s a totally fresh install although not a brand new blog (ie uses an existing database). This makes it look like the problem is coming from me rather than the files, since it’s happened twice.
However for this one I managed to fix the problem by manually changing the password in the database using the hash generator thingy here https://bfl.rctek.com/tools/?tool=hasher (found somewhere in these forums). I don’t know why that worked but it did.
Naturally I went back and tried this on my main blog. No joy. So I reinstalled the files (excepting the ones I modified like index.php) and reran the upgrade script and this time the new password seems to have stuck. So I’m logged in everywhere again. And won’t be logging out any time soon *grin*.
I ran upgrade.php for both of these. Maybe that fixes up the database somehow? Maybe not but it’s something else to try I guess ??

Same problem here. All was fine untill I updated my user info (changed the password from the default one.)
At this point I am positive it’s a bug. I tried all, including reinstallation.

Actually I just tried above hasher and it worked for me…
    Hm…

The hasher didn’t work for me because the problem also lies elsewhere (there is another post about this). The problem remains when installing the blog and wp folder in seperate/parallel directories.

I thought everything was fone. Go to open my blog today and find not only am I logged out (which I’m normally not) but that I can’t get back in. I don’t know what causes this random problem but I really don’t have two hours to spend each day messing about trying to get back into my blog so I can use it (2 hours being how long I sturggled with this yesterday). I’ve had this problem before, with 1.0.1 as well as the 1.2 problems yesterday, and a quick look around the forum shows it’s obviously pretty common.
This is very frustrating, as I’m sure it can be imagined. If I’m going to go through this each day then I might as well uninstall WordPress. If I thought there was actually a viable alternative peice of software out there I would be changing right now.
I just really hope someone is working on finding and fixing this bug (although I haven’t seen any sign of it yet). Because it doesn’t matter how feature packed and pretty your software is if I can’t log in and use it.

Oh, as extra info. I haven’t touched my username or password. I run an unhacked standard version of WP with the files in the same directory as the actual blog. I do have more than one going so there may be a cookie conflict, although it’s never been a problem before. I’ve deleted my cookies over and over. I haven’t messed with anything or done anything that could possibly be causeing this problem. It just randomly happens.

Have you tried a different browser?

Not just several different browsers but completely different computer that has never been near my wordpress admin files before, still can’t log in. I have honestly been through this forum and tried everything suggested several times. It’s not me, it’s not my computer, it’s the wordpress files.
Not logged in now because I’m on said other computer.
    Shelley

And as I said, I don’t use different directories for my files, so no /wp vs /blog. It’s all in /blog. Not sure if I made that clear before.
    Still Shelley.

Just to make fully sure I tried to log into my blog from work today. Completely against company policy but I’m not getting any joy here. Couldn’t log in. that cmoputer, in fact that entire network, has never been near not only my blog but my entire domain. There are no preeixsting cookies and nothing to delete or whatever. It uses a different browser again than I’ve tried with all different security settings and blah blah, just forvariety.
I can not log into my blog from anywhere. At all.
I haven’t messed around with my files again because I don’t see the point. It’ll just break again tomorrow, or maybe next week if I’m lucky. I’m not going to mess with things again until someone fixs this problem. Plus I just really really don’t have time. All I want to do is spend ten minutes at my computer updating my blog every day or two and then get on with my life, because this is all I have to spare right now.
And that’s today’s ten minutes wasted. Please at least tell me someone cares and is bothering to look into this?

Arg. That was me again. I deleted my login cookie for here last night when I was trying to fix my blog.

Ok, two days later, mesxsed with files, database, whatever. Nothing works. Realised my posts here are invisible. I’m now out looking for an alternative to wordpress because mine doesn’t work and obviously never will. Probably lost three years of posting too which as you can imagine thrills me greatly (not).
I’ve also told my friends not to upgrade and they aren’t. None of them want to go through the crap I am.
