Anchor trouble; makes my post blank!

This has been driving me insane for the better part of an hour. I’m new to WordPress and trying to post something with anchors in it and every time I include the anchors WordPress empties my post. I’d really appreciate anyone’s input on this.
My post contains a list of header links followed by the actual headers of the post. Stripped down, my post is structured in this way;

• Header 1
• Header 2

<h2>Header1</h2> 
Section 1
<h2>Header2</h2> 

I’ve switched the anchors around various times, no luck, does WordPress have any issues with anchor usage?
I’m stumped, can’t find anything on this and I’m clueless as to why WordPress makes my post blank every time I include the anchors.
The actual post’s code is valid html, I checked it before trying to upload the code in WordPress’s html editor.
