• Hi there, I am developing a travel website where this excellent plug in is being used to great advantage on many pages. However I have today encountered something strange which I would like to fix.

I want to be able to use anchor links to open a page and open the appropriate tab at the same time. For example if there are four tabs I would to be able to have four links in to the page, each using an anchor tab (for example #golf #skiing #sailing #diving) and which ever link is clicked the tab is also open when the page opens.

Now this kind of works, except that for some reason when the page opens it opens the tab and then scrolls down to the bottom of it. If you have a tab with a long content then the page scrolls down a long way and the options at the top (the other tabs) cannot be seen unless the user scrolls back up.

I have tried checking, and unchecking, the reload page option in the settings and neither affect this. It is infuriating so if anyone can help or has any ideas that would be fantastic!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @gabrieldesign,

Can you please provide us the URL of page where the tabs are embedded, so that I can also take a look into the scenario and try to fix it.

    Waiting for your response.
Thank you for all your patience.

    Hi @sukhada

Many thanks for your reply, and apologies for the slowness in getting back to you, I have been out of the country.

One page where I am using your great plug in is:

    https://1078174551.n646418.test.prositehosting.co.uk/test-new-hotel/

As you can see it is brilliant for a website like the one I am developing for my client.

However, if I wanted to link to the page above, and for example, open the Accommodation tab at the same time I would use this link:

    https://1078174551.n646418.test.prositehosting.co.uk/test-new-hotel/#Accommodation

The anchor tag works to open the tab but then scrolls down the page to the bottom of the content rather than showing all the tabs at the top of the section.

Can you please advise me as to what I am doing wrong, or how to adjust the plug in to achieve this?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Many thanks

    Pete

    Hi @gabrieldesign,

    Thank you for your response.

Currently it is working as per browser functionality and scrolling to the content div ID. This feature is currently not available in free tabs plugin, we are going to add this feature in next update. We will get back to you once released the update.

Thank you for all your patience.

    Hi @sukhada

Thank you for your quick reply. However I am a little confused as it is not working as you suggest. The page and tab open but it does not scroll to the content div ID, it scrolls down further to the bottom of the DIV and does not stop at the top where the anchor tab, DIV header is. It seems to speed past the DIV ID and carry on down to the closing div tag, not the opening one. Can you advise me please?

    Many thanks again

    Hi @gabrieldesign,

I have Tested the link on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and once one the link for “Accommodation” tab it is scrolling to content with text “offers great views over the Arabian Gulf or Palm Jumeirah…….”
As you are having one fixed menu the first link was cut, but it’s not scroll at the bottom of content, can you please provide us the browser you are using or any screenshot of the scenario. So that We can try to fix it.

    Waiting for your response.
Thank you for all your patience.

    Hi Sukhaha,

Many thanks for your support on this. I have tested in Firefox, IE and Chrome and get the same issue in each. When the page opens you just can’t see the tabs at the top. As suggested I have taken some screen shots.

The first one is what I get when I use the link to #Accommodation which I first sent to you.

    Screenshot01

This second one is what should happen with the anchor in the tab.

    Screenshot02

To make it clearer I have added some dummy text, making the tab content long, which shows how the page scrolls down and doesn’t stay at the top when opened via an anchor.

    Screenshot03

As you can see the content starts half way down and not at the top of the page. Obviously it is more useful to have the start of the text, or preferably the tab itself as the starting point, not the middle of the content like this.

I hope that this is clear and thank you again for all your help on this.

    Many thanks

    Hi @gabrieldesign,

Your site is having fixed top menu, due to which the first line of tab content was getting cut and in current version of free tabs its not scroll to tab title top, we will ad this in upcoming update. If possible can you please provide us the temporary admin access details to our support mail support[dot]team[at]tabbervilla[dot]com, so that I will customize the plugin as per your requirement.

    Waiting for your response.
Thank you for all your patience.
