• I recently updated to WordPress 5.7 from 5.5 and now the anchor and jump links on my site will not work on several page. Here is an example of one page – They seem to work in Firefox only. Edge and Chrome scroll back up to the top of the page. Any ideas on what the WordPress 5.7 update might have changed or how to resolve this issue? Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

  • I assume you mean the links below the image, for the various door styles.
I use Firefox, so they are working for me, but it is not smooth.
Looking at the page source, there are Javascript events tied to each one. Maybe in some browsers, there is a script error, so it isn’t working at all.
Look in your Developer Tools Javascript console to see what errors are showing.

Thank you @joyously for your help. It is so much appreciated! I did as you had suggested and am not seeing any Javascript errors. And yes you are correct, it is the links below the main banner image and they do work in Firefox only. Unfortunately not Chrome or Edge.

How about if you use Health Check plugin in Troubleshoot mode, to disable plugins/theme for your user only, to isolate the problem.

Thank you again @joyously . We can certainly do this and try. I can tell you that we did disable the plugins one by one and checked to see if the issue was resolved. Did not seem to be a plugin issue. So far the only way to resolve it is to go back to WordPress 5.5 which I hate to do.

One of the things that changed between 5.5 and 5.7 is jQuery. I don’t know if it’s a problem for your site, because you said there were no console errors, but before you switch back, you can try the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin, which is for the transition. It might not do anything for you.

Hopefully, you know about the WP Downgrade plugin, for an easy switch between WP versions.

Hey @joyously we are on the same page for sure and think alike ?? I actually tried the JQuery Migrate Helper plugin and that did not seem to solve. I actually might try that again as maybe I did not give it enough time. And yes, I do use the WP Downgrade plugin and love that tool!
