    Hi there,

I’ve completed the wizard, but Google Analytics is not blocked when I don’t accept the cookies or manually disable statistics from the pop up. I’ve installed Analytics via Tag Manager.

I’ve selected Yes for the question “Do you want to ask for statistics?”. But this is the only question I see in this screen. I can’t enter my GTM ID here, just like in this tutorial: https://complianz.io/definitive-guide-to-tag-manager-and-complianz/.

    Any ideas?

    Elias

    Hi @spierbouwers,

Did you follow the other steps mentioned in the Tag Manager tutorial as well? You will need to use Complianz custom events to load Google Analytics or other scripts.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hoi @spierbouwers,

    – Do you want complianz to add Google Tag Manager to your website?
    – Do you want to enable Google Consent mode? (Beta)
    – Please enter your GTM container ID

Echter zie ik deze 3 vragen niet in mijn wizard. Ik neem aan dat ik eerst dit moet doorlopen voordat ik aan de slag ga met GTM zelf?

    Hi Elias,

We’ll keep the support forum in English so that other users might learn from your question as well :-).

You need to the previous section (Consent -> Statistics) and make sure to select ‘Yes, with Google Tag Manager’. Then you’ll get the three questions mentioned in your reply. Please answer these three questions and follow the other steps in the tutorial to complete your configuration.

    Regards,
    Leon

    Hoi @spierbouwers,

Dat gebeurt als we een integratie hebben met een plugin, ik heb op de website gekeken onder je account en denk dat dit dan gaat helpen; https://complianz.io/google-tag-manager-for-wordpress-plugin-gtm4wp-set-up/

    Hi,

So I’ve disabled Google Tag Manager via Integrations -> Plugins, but still I don’t see the 3 questions as mentioned above in the wizard.

Any ideas? I’m feeling like a noob now ??

    Hi @spierbouwers,

As the questions concerning the GTM code are still not being displayed, most-likely there is still an integration with a GTM/Analytics plugin activated under Complianz > Integrations.

Could you verify that all integrations with Analytics/GTM related plugins have been deactivated under Complianz > Integrations?

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi,

Yes I’ve disabled GTM via integrations.

I’m also using the plugin ‘Google Site Kit’ that I’ve disabled now as well. Somehow this intergration was preventing the GTM configuration in the wizard.

I see the GTM configuration in the wizard now and I’ll let you know when I need any other help.

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

So I’ve been through the GTM configuration in the wizard. Now I’ve got the following questions:

    1. In the setting of the ‘GTM4WP plugin’, should I select ‘Container code OFF’?

    2. In tag manager I’ve created the trigger ‘cmplz_event_statistics’ as I want to block Analytics (GA4).

What I don’t understand now is how I should set up the tag which I want to connect to this trigger?

    Hi @spierbouwers,

If Complianz places your Google Tag Manager script, you can indeed set the GTM4WP plugin to “container code OFF”.

As for loading Analytics based on Statistics consent, all you would need to do from here is create the Analytics tag within your Tag Manager container, and set it’s firing trigger to “cmplz_event_statistics”. This will cause the Analytics tag to only be loaded when Statistics consent is obtained.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi Jarno,

I’ve changed my Analytics configuration tags for UA an GA4. I’ve deleted the trigger ‘Alle pages’ en replaced it by “cmplz_event_statistics”. See screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/HQCrI6Z.

When I test it in GTM preview-mode, it seems tot work. The UA en GA4 tags are only being fired when the cookies are accepted. So I’ve published the changes to live.

BUT now, when I visit my website I don’t see myself anymore in the realtime reports. Even if I do accept the statistic cookies.

    Have I done something wrong?

PS: I don’t see myself in the UA realtime report (doesn’t matter if I accept or block the cookies). But I do see myself in the GA4 realtime report, but here it also does’t matter if I accept/block the cookies. I’m always being shown.

    Hi @spierbouwers,

From your description (correct GTM preview, but a pageview becoming visible in GA4 realtime report regardless of consent) it sounds like you still have another implementation of Analytics on the website, so, an implementation loaded outside of Complianz which doesn’t wait for consent.

That would explain why the GTM preview is correct (as your GTM set-up is correct), but you still see a visit appearing in the realtime GA report regardless of consent.

    Kind regards,
    Jarno

    Hi @spierbouwers,

Did you manage to locate the second implementation of the Google Analytics script or do you need further assistance? we’d like to close the ticket if the issue is resolved :-).

    Kind regards,

    Hi Leon,

I don’t have any other scripts for UA/GA4, so that makes is so confusing.

This time I do see myself in the UA realtime report, but not in the GA4 realtime report (regardless of consent).

Do you guys maybe provide paid support?
