On the Top 404s tab I’m seeing this only, no other Ips. Logins are the same way only it shows the user names but false IP.

An unknown location at IP false
    IP: false [block]

Also host name for everything shows Hostname: 50-121-213-206.drr03.clbg.wv.frontiernet.net

But it’s showing the correct IPs for live traffic.

    Any ideas?

I went back to an old version to see if it would fix the problem, it didn’t so I updated back to the latest version and now getting:

Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an empty data response from the Wordfence scanning servers when calling the ‘resolve_ips’ function.

    Hi,

The cache on that table clears every 24 hours. You should start seeing IP’s again once it does. If you are you comfortable using phpMyAdmin and have a backup you could try deleting everything in wp_wfLocs. Doing so will cause the table to recache. Again, make sure to make a backup if that’s the route you want to try.

Thanks. But the host name for every hit is showing 50-121-213-206.drr03.clbg.wv.frontiernet.net should that have fixed that?
Also just had a 404 error and still showing as false IP on the 404 tab.

You could try changing how Wordfence gets IP addresses.

    https://docs.wordfence.com/en/Wordfence_options#How_does_Wordfence_get_IPs

Let me know if that helps.

Tried each one. now host name is 99-158-24-9.lightspeed.miamfl.sbcglobal.net for all hits. Still showing false IP for the 404 tab.

Ok. Was it working at some point or was this a new install?

I’d recommend removing the plugin and table data and then reinstalling the plugin again.

I just noticed it after the latest update. I’ve had WF installed for years. I’ve reinstalled manually in addition to clearing some of the data tables. I’ve deactivated and reactivated the plugin too.

The only time we’ve seen this issue was when the database table that stores IP addresses got corrupted. So can you please scroll to the bottom of your wordfence options page, check the box to delete all wordfence data on deactivation. Then deactivate and reactivate the plugin.

You can find instructions here: https://docs.wordfence.com/en/I%27d_like_to_reinstall_Wordfence_completely._How_do_I_do_that%3F

This will delete all Wordfence tables and recreate them. However you’ll lose all blocked IP’s, all historical traffic and any other config or historical data but it’ll likely fix the issue.

    Awesome!

Perfect! I wash having the same problem.

    Fixed.

helped me a lot i’ve been looking for the solution for quite a few days thanks anyway.

All traffic shows IP false as for original post.

I did check the delete wordfence data checkbox, saved the options, deactivated and activated as suggested in this thread, but all data ie traffic history is till there. (tried several times)

What can I do at this point? I hope I dont have to reinstall it cause I dont wanna have it deactivated for too many seconds, getting lots of “attacks”.

@doremember: It sounds like your database user might not have all privileges in the database, since the old traffic was not removed when you chose the option to delete the tables. On most hosts, you can fix the database privileges using a tool like phpmyadmin — if you’re not familiar with that, your host may be able to help. After the privileges are fixed, you still may need to reinstall the plugin, to that it recreates the tables.

If you still have trouble, please make a new post using the form at the bottom of the Wordfence forum here. The forum rules ask that different people’s issues are kept separate, and it helps us keep track of pending questions as well. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. You are spot on, it was permissions issues for the database user. I did start a new thread and got help:
