• Hi, I use WP 3.0, no plugins installed. But when I search for new plugins (or themes) in the admin, I get this error: ‘An Unexpected HTTP Error occured during the API request’.

I already assigned 766 recursive permissions to wp-contents folders and files but I still get the problem.

I read I should also modify http.php file in wp-includes folder and increase timeout on line 223, from 5 to 30. Only problem is that my http.php file only counts 194 lines and there is no mention of any timeout…

So do you know what I can do? This is a serious bug in WP 3.0. And I don’t want to hack WordPress…

    Thanks for your help!

  • I think this is far more likely to be a server issue rather than a bug. Your host may have restricted calls to external sites.

doubt it.. I having the same issue here.. I wordpress blog is hosted in my own debian local box. When I search for themes or plugin I am also getting this error..

An Unexpected HTTP Error occured during the API request.

    any solution please
