• Let me begin with saying how much I appreciate those of you in this community who have taken the time to develop plug-ins for WordPress. It is through your hard work that makes it possible for WP users (novices and experts, alike) to make great blogs. Thank you!

In the short time that I’ve been a blogger, I have come across something that the WP community at large could benefit from regarding plug-ins.

I respectfully request that when you write your instructions on how to use your plug-in that you clearly state where to put your components and/or code. Personally, I have come across some plug-ins (which will remain nameless) where I have spent more time than I’d like figuring out how to get them to work. This could have been avoided if the instructions had been a little clearer.

Again, the time and effort you put into making these plug-ins is sincerely appreciated. I’m just trying to make it to where users can enjoy the fruits of your labor and you can spend less time answering questions.

    Thanks! ??

  • Well said! I’m glad that the majority of plugin authors do a great job of documenting their work, but certainly there are times when some may rush things a bit. Other problems may occur if plugin authors receive little or no feedback or constructive suggestions from users. If an author doesn’t hear of issues, then they would not do anything to change their documentation because they would assume everything is fine.

When you stop by a plugin author’s site, be sure that when you are thanking them, or even donating to them or buying a wishlist item, that you drop a comment or two about the documentation if needed. I know that most are very quick to improve their stuff!

    Thanks, everyone!
