• Hi there

This plugin is fantastic, but I have a suggestion which has just occurred to me, bearing in mind my current project. It would be great if there were one (or two) checkboxes, with the option of adding automatic labels for ‘Today’ and/or ‘Tomorrow’. So if today is Thursday, instead of it stating ‘Thursday’, it would display ‘Today’, and similar for Tomorrow. It’s debatable if this should overwrite Exceptions or Holidays. e.g. if today was ‘Christmas Day’, should it display exactly that or state ‘Today’? If that was user-selectable, all the better. I hope you don’t mind this suggestion. This would apply when the option for the first day of the week is set to ‘today’.

Thanks again for a great plugin.

    Mike

@mikelidbetter Thanks for the suggestion! This is a good idea.

Right now, there are classes to describe “today” and “tomorrow”, so you could attach your own styling for these days.

I’ll think a nice way to implement this alongside an extension to the Special Hours – with a note or similar added to a set of opening hours.

The label precedence could be covered as a new Shortcode parameter.

Thanks again for this feature request.

If you like the plugin, please leave a review.

Edit: I see you’ve already left a review… and changed the rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. Thanks so much for reconsidering the rating. It is appreciated!

    Hi again,

I just had another thought: maybe add the ability to display 12:00 as Noon or Midday and 00:00 as Midnight? Possibly by user-definable labels?

e.g. using the example, tommorow would display as:

    Tomorrow: Midday – Midnight

@mikelidbetter Thanks for all the suggestions. They are all good and I’ll look to see how such new functionality can be introduced without adding to the complexity of the plugin.

@mikelidbetter I’ve added functionality for text replacements at midday and midnight just as you’ve suggested.

The replacements for today and tomorrow will come another time. I realise that if there’s caching on the website and it’s no longer “today”, this will cause some issues as there may be nothing to identify this as it no longer being today. Also, consolidation may absorb these replacements – meaning there are situations with “Weekdays”, “Tomorrow”, “Sunday” if today is a Friday and all weekdays are the same.

I just want to pace the changes a little as it can identify problems if/when they arise.

    Thanks again for your suggestion.

    Hi,

Thank you so much for this, I hope everyone else also enjoys the new features. Of course, I fully appreciate you incorporating some of my suggestions into an already great plugin. I also completely understand that you may not include all the suggestions you receive.

    Thank you.

@mikelidbetter This is now fully implemented in version 1.58. There’s even more functionality than ever!

    Hi there

I see the functionality has been added to specify labels for midday and midnight text which is great. However, text entered doesn’t appear to save/display. Can this be looked at?

    Many thanks

@mikelidbetter There are changes within the JavaScript and the new version may not have loaded.

Try Ctrl/Command Shift R to force refresh within the plugin’s management page. If you don’t see the notes there, try ensure you have: &notes=1 added to the URL.

Hi, I tried the refresh as indicated and also reinstalled the plugin. I see the options to add the text for midday/midnight but they still don’t save or display? I used Command Shift R, but the notes displayed also show the fields are empty.

@mikelidbetter I did try the Separators & Text update on a couple of my other websites and it is all running as expected. When I enter the values for midday and midnight, it saves and remains after a refresh.

I haven’t tried a completely new install. Did you perform a reset or deactivate and uninstall it entirely?

    (@mikelidbetter)

I tried just the refresh, but as that didn’t work, I uninstalled and reinstalled. That didnt make any difference. As a test, I changed some other labels, saved, refreshed, etc., and they all worked fine. For some reason, it’s just the new fields that don’t save for me.

@mikelidbetter That’s pretty odd… can you email me direct through the support website?
