I’m suddenly getting the same message “An error occurred while processing the form. Please try again” with every form on my website. These forms were previously working. I have not made any changes other than keep everything up to date.

I have tried things suggested in previous posts about this error:
1 – I have test all plug-ins for conflicts and found nothing.
2 – They are all set to load using Ajax
3 – All are not caching
4 – Checked and I’m running php 7.4.10 (one post solved this problem by down grading php from 8.1 to 7)
    5 – Running WordPress 6.0.1

I have shared a link for the most basic and easily testable form, but am having the same problem with all of the forms on the site.

Help I just emailed out a link for an application and am getting lots of messages and emails about the form performance.

    Hi @julr

I hope you are doing good today.

I checked your page source and browser console and there is no error there which could cause this issue. I did not want to submit the form to not spam your client.

Could you export your form, upload it to google drive or dropbox and share a link in your next reply so that we could take a closer look at this?

Also, before that, can you check you API keys from reCAPTCHA and see are those are correct?

    Kind Regards,
    Kris

Double checked and API keys are correct. They were previously working. You can just put test under subject and submit. You only get the error on submission… since submissions are not going through there is not spam.

Here is a link to the exported form.

Thank you for any help you can provide. The fact that none of the forms are working and they were all working previously has me stumped.

I’m having same issue. Kindly check log in your dashboard. You will see exact error reason.

Looked long and hard for the log on my Forminator dashboard, but could not find a log. In the Elementor log I found the following… “forminator/build/front/front.multi.min.js?ver=1.17.2:3166:45] Cannot read properties of null (reading \’search\’)”

Searched but could not find were to go from there.

    Hi @julr

I am afraid the link is protected, can you please make it public so we can download the form?

Please, also enable the debug mode following this guide https://wpmudev.com/blog/debugging-wordpress-how-to-use-wp_debug/

Replicate the issue, but this time navigate to WordPress files > wp-content, find the debug.log file, and download and upload it on Google drive to share here too.

Let us know when the Google link is public.
    Best Regards

I have opened up the permissions. Here is a link to the debug.log: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PWxcS6r1G3HJT3QC33ZwvtPzvJl7Wby0/view?usp=sharing

    Thank you

    Hi @julr,

I imported the form to a test website but couldn’t replicate the issue. I submitted the form, and the error mentioned was not showing up.

I checked the debug.log that you have shared but couldn’t find any similar errors already reported. As you have already tried a complete conflict test, I suspect something at the server end is causing an issue. Can you please check with your hosting provider and make sure PHP extension ctype is enabled for this website?

Can you please let us know the WordPress and PHP versions used on this website?

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John

Running php 7.4.10 and WordPress 6.0.1

Check with my host and they enabled the PHP extension ctype. It initially solved the problem with the forms, until I started reactivating the plugins. Then there was a critical error.

After not receiving the email with info about the error I checked back with my host and they increased memory limit in php.ini. After that I was able to reactivate the plugins and the forms are up and working again.

Thank you for reviewing this issue for me and pointing me in the correct direction.

    Julie
