When I make and save some changes to my home page, which I designed with Elementor, it gives a 501 internal server error.

I tried every way to find the cause of the error and solve it. I turned off other plugins, tried a different theme, and checked the php memory and other settings on the server side. Log file, safe mode etc. However, I could not find the cause of the error. Let me explain the last changes I made to the site before this error occurred: Since the first day I designed the homepage with Elementor, it has been working very slowly on mobile.

For this reason, I installed the WP Optimize caching plugin and activated its settings. I created and enabled cache links, zipped css js files and image files. There was no significant change in mobile speed. I think the cause of the error is the operations performed by this plugin. I manually deleted all files and database, installed backups and deleted the cache folder. However, the problem persists. A similar error had occurred before and I solved the problem by calling the server company, resetting my site and reinstalling the old database and all backup files.

I think there are remnants of the caching plugin on the server. I think I’ll call the company I get hosting service from and ask them to reset my site. Also, images cannot be loaded in the WP Optimize image section. It is always necessary to restore the compressed files in order to upload the images.

I think the WP Optimize plugin, the latest version of which I use, is not compatible with Elementor. Am I wrong? Also, why are the files not uploaded in the Images section?

    Thank you very much.

I’m sorry to hear about the 501 internal server error you’re experiencing, especially after implementing changes with WP-Optimize. Let’s try to get this resolved.

    1. Compatibility with Elementor: WP-Optimize is generally compatible with Elementor. However, issues can arise if certain optimizations conflict with how Elementor or your theme is structured. Since you mentioned that the problem persists even after uninstalling and restoring from backups, it’s less likely that remnants from WP-Optimize are causing this.
    2. Troubleshooting the 501 Error:
      • Check Server Logs: The server logs can provide specific details about what caused the 501 error. This can help pinpoint whether the issue is related to WP-Optimize or another server-side setting.
      • File Permissions: Ensure that file and folder permissions are correctly set. Sometimes, incorrect permissions can lead to server errors.
      • Disable Advanced Cache: If the advanced-cache.php file exists in your wp-content directory, try removing it. This file could be conflicting with other caching mechanisms or plugins.
    3. Image Optimization Issue:
      • The issue with images not uploading in the WP-Optimize image section could be due to server restrictions or missing PHP extensions like gd or imagemagick, which are needed for image processing. You might want to contact your hosting provider to ensure these are installed.
    4. Mobile Speed: For mobile speed issues, I recommend checking if image optimization is effectively reducing image sizes. Also, consider excluding certain CSS and JS files from minification if they are critical for mobile functionality.

If these suggestions don’t resolve the issue, I would recommend contacting your hosting provider for further assistance. They might need to check server configurations or reset certain elements as you mentioned.
