'An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later' Media Library broken

  • Two problems, which seem likely to be related: 1, every time I try to upload an image it uploads the whole thing but then says ‘An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.’ However, looking via FTP it seems they actually uploaded okay. When I go to Media Library, it just does the loading spinner thing endlessly, doesn’t show any files although I probably have a load of them going back several years.

    This is still true after disabling all my plugins and upgrading WordPress to 4.1 (I think I was on 4.0 before). Not sure when it started, but it can’t have been that long ago; probably when I upgraded to 4.0 a few months or so back, I guess. I’m on NearlyFreeSpeech, which notoriously makes things a lot harder than they need to be in various ways, but I thought I had it all working okay. ??

    Thanks. Switching theme seems to have caused the Media Library to start working again, though it hasn’t fixed the upload problem. Experimenting further, I now realise it’s not all images that it chokes on – it may be only ones exported from DarkTable! This is still baffling, since these images work perfectly well everywhere else, but at least it gives me something to go on…

    What’s “DarkTable”?

    Switching theme seems to have caused the Media Library to start working again,

    that suggests there may be issue with other theme. What theme you were using?

    DarkTable is an image editor for Linux, focusing on RAW editing. It’s generally pretty good.

    It’s possible it’s only too-big pictures that are failing, though I haven’t done extensive testing. :-/

    I switched between Twenty Thirteen and Twenty Fifteen, but I’ve switched back again now and the Media Library still seems to be working.

    I don’t know. Also, I don’t knoe anything about “DarkTable”

    The upgrade for wordpress causes some autoincrement and indexes of some tables go haywire.thats why it does not upload image. also check server issues and permissions.
