"An error has occured while retrieving the profile" – help?

    Hi all,

    I am getting an error in my dashboard (screenshot): “An error has occured while retrieving the profile: name lookup timed out”

    I do not recall installing any plugins or making any site changes that would have caused this error. It seems to have happened unprompted; it showed up a few days ago. The error is always showing in my dashboard.

    The error does not seem to be affecting anything, site seems to be running fine.

    Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    James, thanks for the help!

    I followed your advice and disabled the plugins…I was able to determine WP LinkedIn to be the culprit. Went to the settings for the plugin…cleared the cache and error is gone!
