• The lite version didn’t satisify my client’s needs. So I went pro and can recommend going pro. If you don’t need features like hiding meta information and you aim for a straight blog, this theme should be a good start for being free.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the feedback. Sorry to hear you felt that Engrave is an average theme. If you ever feel like giving some specific feedback we’d love to hear your thoughts and would be more than happy to implement new features if you these would be of use to you.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts!

there is no control over the elements of a blog post. I want to be able to remove some meta information like publication date or author info. I did this manually by removing the corresponding code out of the theme.

As I usually like to use category pages as a page displaying posts. There is no admin panel or anything in the page editing frontend that would give me any kind of control over how category pages look like or what elements will be displayed. Again, I manually edited the code to make it work the way I want it.

Which brings me to the next thing: Have you ever heard about i18n? I would guess so, as there is a .po and a .mo file bundled with your theme. I tried to make a german translation (with my PoEdit Pro) and wanted to contribute but realized, that the parts of the theme which really need translation (frontend which all visitors see) are barely included. I want to translate things like “Category Archive:”. If you could shed some light on this, I’m motivated to translate the lite theme to German (maybe for a little exchange)

    Hi mark.cheret,

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback. ALL of the above can be changed in the upgrade version of Engrave. As you can clearly see you’ve linked to Enfold which is a premium theme on ThemeForest. Comparing a free theme on www.remarpro.com to a premium theme on ThemeForest is an unrealistic comparison! Are you seriously expecting these to be similar in nature? The premium version of Engrave is certainly in that league.

I’m assuming you’re new to www.remarpro.com themes and fail to understand the difference between free and premium themes.

In addition the text string that you’ve referred to can be translated just fine. It’s wrapped in the neccesary translation tag:

    __( ‘Category Archives: %s’, ‘lan-thinkupthemes’ )

Where lan-thinkupthemes is the text domain.

If you’d like assistance with translation or anything else then you are more than welcome to submit a support ticket. However, if you like you can contact us through our website and we can discuss how we can help you with your specific issues.

Someone just purchased the full version.

The assumption of my being new on wp.org is only half true. I’ve only signed up last year but I’ve been using WP both privately and commercially over the course of the past 6 years.

Sorry about commenting too early on the theme, where I’ve only used the light incarnation. The light honestly doesn’t cut it. The Pro seems to work a little better.
