    Notifications stopped working all of a sudden. Everything else works fine in Jetpack. The gif spinner keeps spinning but nothing happens. The response says: “An active access token must be used retrieve notifications.”

    https://public-api.wordpress.com/rest/v1/notifications/?http_envelope=1&timeout=7000&unread=&type=&number=9&fields=date%2Cid%2Cmeta%2Cnoticon%2Ctimestamp%2Ctype%2Cunread%2Cstatus%2Csubject&trap=true

    returns:

    {"code":403,"headers":[{"name":"Content-Type","value":"application\/json"}],"body":{"error":"authorization_required","message":"An active access token must be used retrieve notifications."}}

    This is resolved by simply deactivating notifications and then reactivate them.

    The notifications have stopped working again after having worked for some time. Same error but now it doesn’t work to deactivate and reactivate them. A bug?

    Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

    If you contact us through our form, please make sure to include a link to this thread in your message.

    Please let us all know how you solved this issue instead of taking it private. I’d like to know how to fix this as well.

    I don’t know exactly why this worked, but I logged into WordPress.com and started saving settings everywhere that corresponded to the notifications screen. I also opened the notifications on WordPress.com to see what happened. When I returned to my site and refreshed the page, the situation was resolved.

    Jetpack Team: Please check this out and figure out what triggers it to start working again. This, of course, shouldn’t be happening. Thanks!

    @rick: without knowing the site’s URL and/or the WordPress.com username, I can’t really investigate. If you run into the issue again, do let me know!
