AMP takeover – 404 issues

The situation is using the AMP takeover so all canonical pages are AMP valid.
A problem occurs with respect to error 404 pages. The 404 page never shows.
1. The normal 404 page whatever is defined in WP doesn’t show.
or
2. Even if you define a 404.shtml with ErrorDocument 404 /404.shtml in .htaccess it gets ignored.
Basically trying to figure out how to have a 404 page with AMP takeover.

You can take any site with AMP takeover set to on. I’ll send it again to your team3. The 404 issue is a pain. While I am on the subject of AMP takeover, it would be more convenient if a 301 redirect was put in place from murl/amp/ -> /myurl/. At present i am doing that with htaccess. Worth thinking about – not sure if it is a good idea or not. There are some consequences for those moving from /amp/ to / which need to be thought through.
