Hi I hope you can help,

I’m having a problem where the AMP link is correctly redirecting to the non-AMP version of the page but the redirect appears to be taking a long time.

This was reported by our Facebook campaign manager. After implementing AMP on the site we provided him with the AMP links but he said the pages were all loading slowly. He provided a video, this showed the first link he tried (one he had previously opened) loading quickly (and going to the AMP version of the page instead of redirecting), but then the next two links redirected to the non-AMP page and took 8 or 9 seconds to redirect and load.

You can see the video here https://loom.com/share/19ea3bbd6d20418aa9823493287c6334

I should add that the non-AMP pages don’t take that long to load when using the direct URL, only after the redirect from AMP.

Are you aware of any configuration settings that might explain this?

    Many thanks,

    Scott

We have checked your scenario from our end. But it’s not taken that much duration while we are checking it. Please check the below-attached link once.

    Hi,

Many thanks for your reply. We managed to get to the bottom of it, where the links had been emailed to our FB campaign manager, Outlook had converted them all to Outlook safe Links and it was the Safe Links pre scan that was taking so long to load – it wasn’t until I copied the link (from the email) to my clipboard to paste into another browser that we could see the links had been changed!

    Kind regards,

    Scott
