Forgive my ignorance, but does the WP plugin for AMP create a copy of each of the validated non-amp pages, sanitize it and then store that page in a directory?
I can see that during validation requests, a Post ID is referenced in URL parameters. This Post ID is different than the ID of the non-AMP page that is being validated and is not displayed in any of the admin panels (post or page maintenance screens) to be edited.

Ideally, I would like to be able to edit the AMP version of a page ( transitional website approach ) to account for some site plugins that may or may not need to be adjusted for sanitizing process.

  • @macksq The plugin doesn’t create a copy or directory of pages, it converts sanitizes pages and posts per AMP URL request, which in turn passes valid URLs to AMP Cache. The post ID will be visible in URL parameters if the permalinks are set to display post ID only.

In relation to modifying content based on whether it’s an AMP URL or not I would suggest using this shortcode. It’s probably not necessary as the plugin informs you of any AMP validation errors, which you can accept or reject.

You can also apply CSS rules to hide/display div containers for your AMP URLs only using the html[amp] selector in your style.css file.
