From what I understand, the Neve theme is already mobile friendly. Do I NEED the AMP plugin to make my website work quickly/smoothly on mobile devices or can I just deactivate this plugin?
When I look at the AMP plugin homepage, it says several of my plugins are AMP incompatible such as woocommerce, jetpack, Complianz (my cookie plugin, which states on it’s site it is mobile friendly) as well as my Neve theme being AMP incompatible (despite it being on the compatible list). Thanks in advance.

    Hi @firstfestivefooties,

    Thanks for choosing Neve!

Neve is indeed an AMP-ready theme in itself. However, an AMP plugin can help making full-use of Neve’s features so the theme will be used to its full potential. You can also check our documentation about AMP support in Neve here.

Though I appreciate the link, I’ll be honest: I’m brand new to this and don’t know ANY coding and am still familiarizing myself with the jargon. When I previously read the above article you provided the link to, I have no idea if I want “paired mode” or not, if its a good idea to “disable Neve’s AMP support” or what I should do because Woocommerce and the AMP plugin don’t seem to get along.
From that article, if I’m understanding correctly (aside from plugins like woocommerce) if I’m not using the sticky header or scroll to top, the Neve theme itself should basically work/be compatible with the AMP plugin? Which template mode (standard, transitional, reader) is best for a woocommerce/product website using Neve theme and the AMP plugin?

    Hello @firstfestivefooties!

Neve itself is compatible with the AMP plugin. The paired mode from the theme allows you to keep the non-AMP version of a page, while also having an AMP version of it. There will be two versions of your web pages, AMP and non-AMP. The AMP pages will have a special code in the URL so Google will recognize them as AMP pages. This is used to redirect mobile users to the AMP page, while desktop users will be redirected to the non-AMP version of the page.

It depends on your preferences which template mode would be best for your site. The standard mode offers only one version of a page, the AMP one. The transitional mode is similar to the paired mode that is already integrated in the theme, as it allows to have two versions of a page, AMP and non-AMP. The reader mode is used for themes that are not compatible with AMP, so there is no reason for it to be used with Neve. You can find out more about these modes in the plugin documentation.

    Have a nice day!

    Thanks so much!
So, would it make sense to use the “paired mode” in the Neve them in addition to the Transitional Mode in the AMP plugin?

    Hello @firstfestivefooties!

    I’m glad I could help!

The paired mode from the theme should be enough. This way no compatibility issues between AMP and WooCommerce will occur, as this may also happen in some cases.

    Have a great day!

Thanks again. Last question and I think I’m set: The Neve theme is in paired mode by default, correct? Or do I need to toggle something to enable it?

    Hello @firstfestivefooties!

Correct, Neve offers the paired mode by default, you don’t have to do anything to enable it.
