Hi, I am using the AMP Legacy Theme because of the looks and feels. However I am stuck.

    1. How to create a child theme. I am now editing the files in the plugin directory but that will be lost upon install future update.

    2. How to display categories and tags with AMP Legacy Theme?

    3. How to display comment section in AMP Legacy Theme?

    Waiting for your response,

    Thanks!

  • Hi @marbs,

Thanks for contacting us. About your questions:

    1. How to create a child theme. I am now editing the files in the plugin directory but that will be lost upon install future update.

There is some documentation on our website about the legacy theme.

    2. How to display categories and tags with AMP Legacy Theme?

The legacy theme doesn’t support the archive page, you can switch to an AMP-compatible theme on reader mode, and you will have access to the archive pages one AMP.

    3. How to display comment section in AMP Legacy Theme?

By default, you should have a comments section; you can check if the comments are enabled on the non-AMP version or if you use a plugin to manage the comments you need to check if it is AMP compatible.

@fellyph Thank you for your quick but slightly disappointing response. The theme is simply not complete because the archive page is the second most important part. The comment section is available but as a button which eventually takes the user out of AMP mode which just shows again the theme is not complete.

Why start a theme and promote AMP if you don’t finish it. That’s my impression now.

    Unfinished Theme.

    Hi @marbs,

The reader mode since version 2.0 is the substitute for the old reader mode now called Legacy theme. You can check the mode details in our documentation.

From v2.0 onwards, the old Reader mode theme is referred to as Legacy AMP theme, while the new Reader mode has been significantly expanded with full-site coverage (rather than being limited to singular posts and pages as in legacy Reader mode), template and design variations from selecting alternate themes to better match your site’s brand, and support for standard WordPress features like nav menus, custom logo, and commenting.

    .

About your comment section, if you would like to share with your UUID, we can do further investigation about your issue.

Hi @fellyph, the link you’ve provided confirms only my point. As for your last remark, the image at the bottom of that article is exactly what is on my site and so wrong.

I am going to use another theme.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi @marbs,

I would say thank you, if you need help? Feel free to contact us again.
