AMP files in custom WordPress theme

  • Hi
    I have a WordPress website with a WordPress theme that I have developed from scratch.
    I want to make an AMP-version of my theme, so my website can load a little faster on mobile.
    I’m wondering if I can create a folder in the theme with template files? Once that has been done, do I have to write something in functions.php so that the templates are used at the right time?
