I am having several search console issues since I installed WordPress amp on my website. The search console is showing the following amp issues on my Web Stories:

    1. Custom JavaScript is not allowed.
    2. Tag found outside the document head which is only allowed as a direct child of the document head.
    2. Module script declared without nomodule alternative (or the reverse).
    3. Tag ‘amp-story’ is not allowed to have any sibling tags (‘body’ should only have 1 child).
    4. The tag ‘amphtml nomodule engine script’ is missing or incorrect, but required by ‘amphtml module engine script’.

The sample web story where I am having the issue is – WEB Story with Issue.

  • Hi @minhaj99 thanks for reaching out. I can see the AMP validation issues you are referring to here. As there are quite a few here it would be helpful to first get some more information from you and then we can look to tackle these one by one.

Could you share your Site Health Information privately via this form and I can have a look at your setup to see if anything stands out here that could be causing these validation errors.

Thank you for your reply. I just submitted the filled-up form. Please look into the issues. Thank you in advance ??

    I have the same problem

    same problem…Please hlp!!!

@minhaj99 thank you for submitting the information. Could you please first try a couple of things to see if these clear any of the AMP validation errors you are getting:

    1. Temporarily deactivate the LiteSpeed cache plugin on your site and check your stories once more from an Incognito browsing window.
    2. Switch your theme to a default WordPress theme such as “Twenty Twenty” and check your stories once more.

Let me know how this goes when trying both steps.

@radionuovevoci Please can you open your own individual topic where we can assist you further there.

I did do both, both nothing came to a fruitful result. The web stories are accessible by using their links, only the indexing problems. Here is a Screenshot

@minhaj99 The issue here is being caused by the following script on your site:

    <script async crossorigin=anonymous nomodule src=https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0.js></script> <script async crossorigin=anonymous custom-element=amp-story nomodule src=https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-story-1.0.js></script> <script async crossorigin=anonymous custom-element=amp-story-auto-ads nomodule src=https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-story-auto-ads-0.1.js></script> <script async crossorigin=anonymous custom-element=amp-story-auto-analytics nomodule src=https://cdn.ampproject.org/v0/amp-story-auto-analytics-0.1.js></script>

This may have been manually placed or injected by another plugin but this is why you are seeing these AMP validation errors. If you have manually placed this then could you please try removing from the body of your source code.

If you haven’t knowingly input this script into your site it may have been placed by another plugin. Could you first try temporarily disabling the AMP plugin on your site and check you stories once more from an Incognito browser. If that doesn’t clear the script and errors then I would recommend trying to disable all plugins except for the Web Stories plugin and check if the errors are cleared. If yes then re-activate the plugins one by one to find which is causing the issue.

Let me know how this all goes and if you have any questions.

I tried disabling every plugin, but could not find out which plugin is creating the problem.

@minhaj99 Thank you for trying the steps and sorry to hear this hasn’t resolved the issue for you. Can I ask if you have checked your site source code for the script above? If you are unsure on how to do this do you have a site administrator that could help you with that?

You could also reach out to your hosting provider who may be able to help you locate exactly where the script is.

Once the script has been removed this should clear your AMP validation errors.

Thank you, I’ll contact my hosting provider & will give the update.

@minhaj99 Just checking in to see if you have managed to speak with your hosting provider who may have been able to help you out?

I contacted them, but could not get any positive help. But now the amp stories are showing valid. But in rich results test it is showing, no items detected ??

@minhaj99 Yes I can confirm also from checking your stories AMP test results that it is now passing validation which is great news. I can also see that it is passing rich test results: https://search.google.com/test/rich-results/result?id=PLiQ-I4QYfh7RGQfFy17cQ.

You story now looks good with all previous issues resolved but please do let me know if you have any further questions I can help with.
