    Hello GeneratePress Team,

I am currently using the GeneratePress theme (free version) along with a child theme and have encountered compatibility issues with the AMP plugin. The plugin has provided me with “Raw validation data” which I am supposed to share with the theme author to fix the AMP compatibility. Can these issues be fixed in the free version of the theme? If so, how can I share the validation code with you?

    Hi there,

    you will need:

    1. the Official AMP Plugin.
And set its Template Mode to Transitional

    2. the GP AMP Compatibility plugin which you can find attached to this doc:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/amp-compatibility/

This will simply disable any Javascript the theme uses. As AMP doesn’t support 3rd party javascript.

BUT before doing that … what is the reason for adding AMP to the site ?
AMP doesn’t add any value to a site any more since google stopped giving AMP pages preferential treatment in the Google News Feed.

The reason for the AMP plugin is to ensure better performance and score for mobile devices. The plugin was recommended to me on the Google Site Kit forum because after installing Site Kit and adding Analytics tags to my website, my site’s mobile performance dropped significantly (even though I had the tags configured incorrectly). I will have to take a closer look at the post you mentioned as I was unaware of it. But if I was wrong, does that mean AMP will not add any value to my website in my case?

I don’t think AMP will add any value to your website, unfortunately.
