Amazon S3 and Cloudfront (CDN) support

Hi,

I think the Amazon S3 and Cloudfront (CDN) feature request is very old but I want to put it in the foreground, because we are uploading and uploading images and all images are stored on the local server drive and it would be very great, if we can outsource such images to S3 and use Cloudfront for better performance also reduce the size of the data backups.

There are hacks out to integrate these features. But that is not really useful for the future (in case of updates and support). Also we don’t want to use W3 Total Cache or other plugins to outsource images.

Can we expect such a feature? We are waiting years and years but no further development in this field, although today there actually is part of the standard. It belongs CDN functionality actually nowadays to standard.
