Maybe I don’t understand the amazon-grid shortcode, but when I use the following short code on a page, I get one column, with the products stacked vertically instead of horizontally, which is what I would expect from a grid.

    [amazon-grid asin=”193743401X,0982219121,0982219105″ columns=”5″ fields=”med-image,title”]

Even if I play with the CSS to make the titles shorter, or if I remove the titles entirely, I don’t get a grid.

To make things as simple as possible, I am using the default 2020 theme and have no other plugins installed except Wordfence. I put the short code, and nothing else on the page, which was edited in the code editor (though the result is the same in the visual editor).

Possibly related to this, the documentation says there should be four new block types installed with this plugin. I cannot find those blocks in the block manager. I don’t know if this is related to this problem, though I guess it’s possible that I need to use this block to get the effect I want. If that’s the case, then any help in installing the grid block would be great.

    Thanks,
    Richard Hamilton

That is the correct usage. I looked at the page in question and I do see 3 distinct columns (one for each of the three products). Can you tell me what browser you are using? Maybe there is an issue with the browser not displaying them correctly.

    On the blocks –
You should just need to search for “Amazon” in the block manager, and they should come right up. If you don’t see them and are using the latest version of the plugin, then check to make sure you don’t have any sort of Ad blocker turned on for the back end of the site. Some Ad blockers like to block any script with the word ‘Amazon’ in the name and these do have that. Plus the Block editor uses JavaScript to addr the blocks.

One other suggestion – if you are only using 3 products, it would also be cleaner to use 3 columns in the shortcode as they will render better.

    Warm Regards,

    Hi Don,

Thanks for the quick response. It was the ad blocker. I turned it off, and the grid displays correctly (though I’ll need to play with the CSS, which is easy).

And, I now see the Amazon blocks in the block manager. I never would have thought that an ad blocker would do that.

FYI, the 5 columns was somewhat random, I tried different numbers to see if it made a difference, and it turned out that it was set to 5 when I sent in this post. Once I set things up for the real site, I’ll pick an appropriate number for the content.

    Thanks for your help.
    Richard
