    Read replica is just a standby DB instance(synchronously replicates the data from primary database) which is only readable not writeable(so wordpress don’t read and write from/to both and just read and write from/to primary database) and the purpose of using read replica is when the primary database fails then the read replica become primary database and become readable and writeable and then the data replicated back to a new standby DB instance so you never feel the database failure.

    Another use case is when you need to analyze the data and don’t want to add more traffic on primary database so just read from standby DB instance.
