I know about the Amazon issue, and am waiting with baited breath for a permanent fix, but now Instagram seems to be throwing an unknown error. I check the links for both Amazon and Instagram then mark them as ‘not broken’, but they keep coming back. What am I missing here? Does BLC keep rechecking links I’ve marked as ‘not broken?’

    Hi @sean-h,

Sorry to hear these are still an ongoing issue. I’m afraid the issue with Amazon is still being worked by our developer and hoping a fix regarding this would be released soon.

Regarding the Instagram link issue, I tried to replicate by adding Instagram links and also by embedding it but wasn’t able to replicate.

Is it possible to share a link to the page you have the mentioned Instagram link? So that we could check what’s being missed and see if there is any workaround if its an issue within the plugin side.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    Hi @wpmudevsupport11

To be honest, we don’t really have that many Instagram links, and for a long time there have been no broken warnings. So like Amazon, Instagram must have changed something recently and not bothered to tell anyone. At least I didn’t get the memo.

Here are 2 posts with Instagram links. I have since recently marked them all as ‘not broken’.

    https://www.thetravellingchilli.com/15-popular-travel-photos-instagram/

https://www.thetravellingchilli.com/spanish-landmarks-in-spain/ then scroll down just a bit to ‘Sagrada Familia in Barcelona’ and click on the photo credit, it is to an Instagram profile. All this BLC has reported as broken, I mark as ‘not broken’ and then a while later is reported as broken again when it isn’t.

    Hi @sean-h

I hope you are doing well.

First of all, sorry for the delay here.

The plugin uses your server IP to test the links, it is possible for the number of requests to Instagram the service blocked your IP causing the false positives.

I copied a link from your website and it worked fine on my end.

About the plugin returning the links as broken, I was able to replicate the problem.

We are going to report to our developers, but, I’m afraid we can’t give an estimated time to release the fixed version, the plugin developers are working on a new version.

    Best Regards

    Hi @sean-h

I hope you are doing well.

We haven’t heard from you in a while, as I told, I’m afraid we can’t give an estimated time to release the fixed version as we are working on a big update.

I’ll go and mark this thread as resolved.

However, feel free to let us know if you have any additional question or problem.

    Best Regards

I’ve gotten used to it. When I do see ‘broken’ Amazon links, I just bulk select and mark them as ‘not broken’, because in actual fact, Amazon links never break. If they do remove a product you are linking to they replace it with pictures of dogs/puppies and you still get commission if people click through and buy anything else.

Thing is, we are planning on moving away from Amazon and are actually not using it in any new posts going forward, because Bezos clearly does not have enough money and so commissions have been reduced.
