I am looking for someone to confirm what I suspect is happening.

The Amazon Affiliate Link I pasted into a WordPress Website about a year ago still works, and that same code copied from my existing website and pasted into a new website today, works, as in, the product image and link works, and it takes you to the book, in this case.

Now, when I go to the Amazon Affiliate Account today, to get the very same HTML code and paste it into the new website, the HTML code does not work and, in fact, the entire HTML snippet of code that you get right from Amazon does not even become visible on the Visual Tab, and of course, not on the website.

Upon examination, comparing apple to apple, the organization of the HTML code is different. Amazon code from a year ago is different than Amazon code from today.

Having been under my very own Geico Rock, did I miss some big change with how Amazon orchestrates their links, and how it relates to WordPress users?

Like is there an Amazon Memo out … that says … hey WordPress Users you can no longer post Amazon links into WordPress, we changed the structure of our links, and they no longer work in the WordPress environment?

My sincerest thanks to anyone who can set me straight, I have spent hours attempting to unravel this mystery by myself. Help, please.

@andrew … I pasted into the WordPress page exactly what I pasted above … am I doing something wrong? Am I not adding “backticks”??? The link does not show up.

This time I put it directly into a post using the “Text” tab – https://snag.gy/f9IOG.jpg

Sorry, I was referring to your forum post when I said “backticks” – code can be corrupted by this forum’s parser that way.

Maybe you’re switching between the tabs as WPyogi describes, but we can’t really give you an accurate answer. There are too many variables.

You used the New Code and it is showing up for you???

I am not switching tabs. Old Code show up. New Code does not.

And I do now about how code gets stripped when you switch tabs … I watched that happen before.

    *know

Works for me too on a test site – adding the code to the TEXT editor and publishing it.

Have you tried creating a brand new post, pasting it to the TEXT editor and publishing it?

Have you tried deactivating your plugins and switching to a default theme to see if something else is messing it up?

@wpyogi … 1.) Glad to know it is working for you. 2.) Are you testing both Old Code and New Code BTW? 3.) Yes, I did a brand new post, pasting into the TEXT Editor (HTML Tab) and it does not show the New Code. 4.) I am going to do it again now. 5.) Yes I have now deactivated all plugins and switched to 2013 Default Theme. 6.) I have since re-booted. 7.) Dumped browser history. 8.) Flushed DNS cache.

Crud … same thing again … Old Code shows up, New Code does not. I just don’t know what this could be.

    Hi,

You might find that the new domain rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com is detected by firewalls/adblock software and stripped from your site.

Whereas the old domain rcm.amazon.com is not (as it is used to source lots of stuff from Amazon not just adverts).

Try changing the domain in the non-working one to the old one, see if that works.

Or turn off your browsers / firewalls adblock facility,

    Hope that helps,

    Paul

@paulstuttard … YOU DUDITZ!!! Thank you so much!

Unbeknownst to me … there were two Ad-Blocking-Type-Extensions running in the Chrome browser, and I will check the other browsers.

Yay! Old Code and New Code are showing up just fine. ??

I knew I wasn’t crazy, but thank you all for checking my theory and proving it false. ?? Even if a plugin in the future is the most efficient way to manage Amazon links, I just did not want to handle the whole signup and setup of a new affiliate account at this time, and besides manually putting the link in, should have worked, and now it does!

    Cheers to all!
