Strange. I just tested an Amazon ad without issue, so this is yet another bug that I can’t reproduce. Can you either send me a link to a post/page where Ad Blocking Detector is supposed to show an Amazon advertisement, or send me the contents of your browser’s JavaScript console when you view the page with the missing Amazon advertisement and AdBlock Plus enabled.

Ad Blocking Detector outputs a report of what it finds, and any errors it has, to the JavaScript console, and will hopefully help narrow down the problem. You can find general instructions for finding the console information on the plugin’s website: https://adblockingdetector.johnmorris.me/how-to-collect-javascript-console-output/

Thanks, hopefully the problems are almost all resolved!

    Hi John,

The post where the Amazon ad which I inserted doesn’t show up is this: https://likeoftheday.butnaru.eu/stalin-vol-1-paradoxes-of-power/
I inserted the Amazon iframe in both fields, just to see if there’s any difference in behavior.
Many thanks for your support. Cheers!

p.s.: I’ve also sent you the session log, as requested in the other thread.

    Thank you for the link.

Visiting that page, Ad Blocking Detector functions as expected using a variety of ad blockers and web browsers, including AdBlock Plus in Firefox and Chrome.

I may not be understanding the problem correctly.

Are you saying that AdBlock Plus was not blocking that Amazon widget/ad, but now is? Or are you saying you can not see that Amazon widget/ad at all, even with AdBlock Plus disabled?

Sorry for answering a little late.
Yes, the Amazon ads used to show up until very recently with AdBlock Plus enabled, now they don’t anymore. Might have nothing to do with your plugin but with the latest 2.6.10 ABP release for Firefox though.
    Many thanks!

I do believe the appearance of Amazon ads before was a fluke. Not all ad blockers remove that particular type of Amazon widget, and it could be an updated block list or search criteria suddenly started blocking the widget.

Unfortunately, their is no way for this plugin to stop ad blockers. It can only detect them and do something with that information. Any alternative content in a shortcode has to not trigger the ad blockers to display.

If you want to make sure Ad Blocking Detector is functioning properly, you can temporarily add something innocuous before the Amazon ad code in the “Ad Blocker Detected” field. I like to use some simple plain text like an asterisk (*) or a hyphen (-) because it doesn’t draw attention, doesn’t break anything, and isn’t blocked by ad blockers. Once added, save the shortcode, then test your site with ad blocker on and off. You should see the innocuous addition appear when the ad blocker is enabled, even if the Amazon item is blocked.
