• Update after using plugin for some time: 8/29/2015

This plugin is almost perfect, as I said in my first review below. However, you cannot migrate your portfolio to another site because the database tables are encoded, and therefore you can’t update image paths and all your images break after migration. So if you build a site on a local environment, and then migrate it to a production server, your portfolio won’t work because all image paths will still be using URLs from your local environment. A workaround is to build the portfolio directly from the production site. Therefore, I have drop my 5 star review to 3 stars.

I’ve contacted the developers a few times over the last couple weeks about the migration bug, and they responded saying they’ll look into it. I have not heard back from them about a fix or update and I’m tired of sending them emails, so I’m not holding my breath. If the developers of Career Portfolio ever come out with an update to their migration plugin (currently breaks URLs after migration), I’ll rate it back to 5 stars.

    ———- original review ———-
I looked at dozens of portfolio plugins trying to find the right one that works well and has the ability to group multiple images into one project, and then view the project in a lightbox. Other plugin required that you put each project into a post. But I don’t want all my projects to link to a post; sometimes I just want to show images without giving a bunch of details about the project. Projects are super fast and easy to set up too, saving tons of time (no need to create a bunch of posts). This thing is also loaded with display options and overlays that make your portfolio shine.

Also, the support team is outstanding. I had an issue with migrating my site from my local environment to a production server. The image paths were not getting updated to the remote paths because they were encoded in the dababase tables causing the images to break on the production site. Career Porfolio support team worked with me to get the issue resolved, and actually provided a new migration plugin that works great! I highly recommend this plugin, and it’s well worth the price.
