    Hello,

I am an amateur, use WordPress and Dreamhost for my website/journal and really want to be able to have automatic backups my site. I have Dreamobjects on Dreamhost, have added your plugin and just don’t seem to get it to work. I have read all the posts, tried the different suggestions, deleted and re-installed, and…just don’t seem to get anywhere.

What is the best forum to get some help with this? Is this support the place? can I go through the live support on Dreamhost for this plugin?

Please note that I am not a techie, don’t know code just want to have a good back up as at the moment I am afraid to use my site as if I screw it up and don’t have a backup I will be lost (and wasted my money on a webdesigner who is no longer available and did not provide a backup/restore function).

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

This is a good place. I have trained the folks at DreamHost a lot, but in the end, the plugin belongs to me.

So … Where are you stumped? ?? Are you having an actual error? If so, what is it. How far have you gotten?

(FYI I’m actually in the airport and on the road this weekend, so I can’t promise I’ll be able to provide super quality help till I get home Monday night)

Thank you for your quick response. As you,are at the airport perhaps it is best that we continue next week. Which time zone are you? I am Paris, France.

The big picture is that I believe that I have followed the plug in directions precisely. I have created the bucket, I see the bucket on Dreamobject (dreamhost site), I have tried backups with all files and database and without both options checked, I have chosen daily for the schedule, 15 for back up retention, tried backup ASAP, checked and unchecked enable logging, deleted and re installed the plug in….and…I still do not appear to be creating any back ups.

    I’m in California, USA, normally.

One quick things, have you turned on logging yet, and if so, does it say anything enlightening?

Hello. Checked enable logging and when I go to the file there is nothing in there.

    Nothing at all?

What PHP are you using? Go into Panel -> Domains and click on that domain. You should be on PHP 5.3 FastCGI

Since I work at dreamhost, I logged in and ran the backup via command line and it seemed to correctly upload your SQL backup. Can you check that it’s correct?

not sure what the SQL back up is. Can say that when I look at my Dreamobjects plugin on WordPress and I am in the section where it implies that I can see a list of backups there is non listed. If I go into the logging there is the following message which was not there before:
    2013/06/11 06:12:30] Begining Backup.
[2013/06/11 06:12:43] List of files added to the zip.
    [2013/06/11 06:12:45] SQL file created: /home/bdzparis/amidlifegarden.com/wp-content/upgrade/dreamobject-db-backup.sql (1 MB).

    Okay! That’s good to know!

Go to your DreamHost Panel, go to DreamObjects, and look and see if there’s a zip file in there?

I do not see a zip file . Went to Dreamobjects looked for a zip file, looked in objects but do not see anything

Did you look in the bucket you assigned to backups?

    Thread Starter bdzparis

    (@bdzparis)

    yes I did.

and when I look on the dreamobjects plug in page there is no back ups in the section that reads:

    “Latest 15 Backups

All backups can be downloaded from this page without logging in to DreamObjects.”

and on the top of the page it still says: “You have an ad-hoc backup scheduled for today at 05:10 pm. Do not hit refresh on the backups page. You may continue using your site per usual, the backup will run behind the scenes.” which is from a ASAP backup I did in May when I first tried the plugin….and have since deleted and reloaded.

and it also says on the page: Keep in mind, your next scheduled backup is at June 4, 2013 12:00 pm”

Both of these dates have long passed but the messages remain.

Not sure if any of these details help.

and the logging from yesterday still says creating zip file. Will it not say zip file created or back up completed when done?

    2013/06/11 06:12:30] Begining Backup.
[2013/06/11 06:12:43] List of files added to the zip.

Sorry, I’m going to try and debug this as soon as I can, however there’s been a death in my family, and I’m just going to have to put this to the side for right now.

If you can email me at mika.epstein at dreamhost.com with your domain name, I will pick this up as soon as I get back. I may need you to provide me with a login to your WP site. I think there’s a setup problem, but I can’t guess what right now.
