    So I am setting up a “club” type site where we will have three tiers of access: public pages, member-only pages and committee-only pages.

    Combining your plugin with “User Registration” and “Nav menu roles” and a handful of lines of code in my custom child theme (mainly to ensure searches obey the roles) I am so very nearly there BUT* there is one small niggle: In your plugin I created the two roles (Member and Committee) and set Member to be the default, yet when I register a new person they are still being set to “Subscriber”.

    It’s like the “Default Role” doesn’t mean what I think it means – can you help me please?

    Sorry, ignore me – the User Registration plugin was the problem, I created the registration form before I installed your plugin and each form allows you to set the default role for the user the form creates (defaulting to the default role at the time you created the form) – I will message that team and suggest they have a default option of “as per system” so if you change the default role elsewhere, such as in your plugin, it works as expected ??
