Am I doomed to CSS to make simple changes?
-
I am a complete newbie and fully expected to have to learn some coding and HTML etc. in order to make any substantial changes to my website. But I loaded a theme called Touchwood and it said it was feature rich and easy to edit. I can’t seem to change a single thing in the editor or with the dashboard. I had hoped there would be some kind of menu to do things like change font or background color or at least load an image in the header. When I go to Touchwood options I get a page with four features labeled 1,2,3,4 and boxes under each one with the option to populate: title, link to article, featured image and description. I repopulated all those boxes with text and file names (for the image) and hit save and nothing happens. Also when I try to edit the header in settings/general I just get a page with CSS (or some kind of code) in it. Is this normal, that when themes say they’re easy to edit they mean easy to edit with CSS and HTML knowledge only? I thought the purpose of a lot of these themes was to take some of the heavy lifting off of the newbies. The worst part of it is I like the theme and can wait to figure out how to do a lot of the changes with CSS down the road, but I can’t figure out how to populate, change, edit or remove a box that is front and center on my home page. It has a border and a bar in the center and might possibly be part of the header but I can find no way to do anything with it. I am at Buzzowlblog.com Can someone give me a push or tat least tell me what that box would be considered from an editing standpoint?
