Always need to refresh page on plugin install or update

I believe basically every time I either install a plugin or run an update for a plugin or WP, the system gets stuck at a screen saying ‘installing plugin/update x’. After a while I refresh the page or go back to wp dashboard an all seem ok. I got quite used to this but it makes me think if it’s normal. I was just wondering, when is the last time I just got a normal screen giving me a notification of successful update?.

I work with WP at different hosts, multiple installations, so I’m not talking about an incident. It’s not that it’s a real problem, but I’m just wondering if this is normal behaviour.
