    Hi:
    I have two questions:

    1. If I start out with a block theme, should I make a child theme before making adjustments versus adjusting the theme itself because I have found I can’t go back to the original version the theme. Even if I delete it and download it again it keeps the changes I’ve made. Or is there a way to get back to the original theme I’m not aware of? Because I may want to use that theme elsewhere that will have a completely different look so I may want to start from scratch with it.

    2. I tried making a child theme using this plugin from the Greenshift Block theme that I had already altered. When I went to edit the header and footer it tells me some of the blocks I used (from the Greenshift block collection) were unsupported even though I have the plugin loaded and activated. WordPress “native” blocks showed up as editable. Do the child themes created from this plugin only support native wordpress blocks?

    Thanks!

  • Hi @vytaulla51,

So you mean that you would like to delete the changes that you had with your user for this theme, right?

The settings remain on your site because these are saved on your site/user (on the database) and not on the theme itself, even if these changes only apply with this specific theme activated.

With that being said, you can reset the style (not patterns or templates) by going to your Site Editor, then selecting the Styles icon and using the three dots icon to see the option:

Do the child themes created from this plugin only support native wordpress blocks?

By default, the child themes would support all blocks (native or not), but it is possible that these “Greenshift” blocks were created in a way that doesn’t allow you to extend them somehow. Can you try contacting the author of these blocks, so they can check this further?
