    Hi,
I noticed that featured images of posts and other images always link to their full versions. I always upload high resolution photos and rely on WordPress to resize them, which is why they are several MB in size. I realize it’s possible to edit the URL, but it’s not very user friendly.

May I suggest using the ‘medium’ or ‘large’ size by default, maybe even having an option to choose which one should be loaded in e-mails?

  • Yes, an option to choose a size would be great.

    Hello,

Is your WordPress installation able to resize the images you upload? And how do you upload your featured images?

MailPoet uses a custom image size for use in newsletters, limiting the image width to 1320px.
When choosing images from the Media Manager, MailPoet will try to select an image size that is closest to 1320px in width.
For featured images used in Posts or Automated Latest Content blocks, MailPoet will use the custom image size of 1320px in width.
However, this functionality relies on WordPress being able to resize the images, so if these custom sized images are not available for some reason, MailPoet should switch to using full sized images.

    Regards,
    MailPoet Team.

Maybe I am missing something. What is the purpose of using a 1320px image in an email that is not larger than 620px?
It would be useful to have the possibility to set width AND height (with cropping), because now – if I have a 2 columns posts layout – the images can have different heights (and it looks horrible).

    @troglos,

MailPoet uses images twice the size of a column width for them to look more crisp on higher DPI screens (e.g. Apple’s Retina displays).

As for image manipulation and cropping, thank you for the suggestion, we will consider it for future improvements.
While it’s not our top priority at the moment, it’s certainly something we want to look into adding.

    Best regards,
    MailPoet Team.

@wysija thanks for clarifying, that makes a lot of sense. Anyway, something must have changed in our configuration, because the problem doesn’t occur anymore.
