• Hello

When I test my website with Gtmetrix (or any speed calculator), I have different results all the time without changing anything to the website. The PageSpeed Score, YSlow Score & Fully Load Time are always different. The load time ranges from 3 seconds to 7 seconds – the waterfall gives me drastically different results every time. The errors in the PageSpeed Score, YSlow Score also range, f.e. sometimes everything is fine with parsing of Javascript but when I run the test again there are a lot of issues.

This is obviously a major issue for me because the site is pretty slow and I can’t tell what to fix.

I don’t have a lot of experience in website design, I would really appreciate some help!

Are you on a shared server? If so, what you’re experience is normal fluctuation due to the same server hardware handling usually about a thousand other sites each with their own load patterns.

Think of it as the difference between your computer with one application open and doing a process vs your computer with 100 applications open doing processes simultaneously.

Thank you James. Yes, I use Bluehost shared server.
I can see how loading times of the site can differ this way.
Can this also explain the drastically different results in the Pagespeed Score & YSlow score? F.e. Gtmetrix detecting more or less external Javascript scripts when you test the site a second time?

How much better would the site perform when I upgrade it to a private VPS-hosting?

    Thank you!

The scores also include load time, so by simply being on a shared server, it means your load time will never be consistent, and therefore neither will your scores.

As for the JS issues, what errors are changing?

    Hello everyone,

I have a website https://www.gamingonphone.com and every time I check GT Matrix, the scores are different.

I have cloud hosting but still, the problem persists.

    What should I do?

    same here
    very inconsistent gtmetrix scores
i use a dedicated vps with minimal load

    is that normal?

For me too. I litteraly have from 1s to 29s score.
I also use dedicated VPS server.

On page speed or any other web speed test platform tests are in smaller variation. But this is like huge variation…

I am experiencing the same issue.

I’m on a shared server, but on the old-style report, Pagespeed and YSlow scores of our product landing pages might sometimes vary by perhaps 1% day to day.

With the new Lighthouse-based report it varies hugely hour to hour. Late last night the page I use to benchmark was grade A, when I checked this morning it was F! It is currently B.

As mariovucak says, with Pingdom etc the situation is much more stable. Is this GTmetrix having teething troubles, or something to be concerned about?
