Alternative to using index.php
-
I want to run a client’s website with a “coming soon” on the home page. I have created this file and called it index.html
I then installed WordPress, but whatever I do it always defaults to index.html
I have tried https://pinewoodelectricalcontrols.co.uk/index.php but the page is always redirected back to https://pinewoodelectricalcontrols.co.uk (/index.html)
Is there anything in the settings I can do to force the server to prefer index.html BUT to honour https://pinewoodelectricalcontrols.co.uk/index.php ?
I have tried changing the settings > general but however I set the home page and site urls they don’t fix the problem.
I have read in previous posts that the best way to do this is to install WordPress into its own folder, but I don’t want to have to change all the links when the site goes live to take out /WordPress/
Is the problem with the server always going to HTML regardless?
