Alternative to qTranslate-X desperately needed

I created my website with OnePage and qTranslate-X back when qTranslate-X was still being maintained. Unfortunately, it has stopped working for me: when I try to update page content, the save is unsuccessful. I tested thoroughly and it’s broken.

I have now installed the Polylang plug-in and although I can now save pages, I’ve had other problems that others have experienced — the home page text displays in the primary language only, so the French home page displays a whole lot of English. My home page looks terrible! Disaster!

Are there any free alternatives that will help me sort this out without having to change themes?
