• The webserver disallows file names starting with a period(.) So I am unable to create .htaccess file. Is there any alternative to this? Is there a setting in WordPress where I can direct wordpress to to get the same info from another file?

  • well, a workaround would be to put an html file init that get’s automatically called when someone is trying to access the directory. Means, you need to put it in every directory.

You can make it look bland or nice and have the person redirect to your initial page.

What exactly do you need to protect?
