Alternative for Twitter Followers Plugin

  • Hi there,

    Me and lots of other people have been using Twitter Followers Plugin and was very satisfied with it. Because it’s not working anymore and no idea when and if a new version will be released, I am looking for an alternative. Here is the original plugin Twitter Followers.

    What the plugin did was show all the followers with icons next to eachother, so you get the same idea as you get when you log into twitter in the sidebar, with all the account avatars in a square.

    Do you guys know of an alternative, or another way of doing this?

    Hi James, I installed the plugin, created an application with twitter and provided credentials, but then I am lost. Do I get widgets, do I have to code or what? Where is explained how to use it? Can’t find it on the site either?

    You’ll have to activate the “Simple Twitter Connect – Base,” “STC – Publish,” and “STC – Followers Widget” widgets. After setting up the application, go to Appearance/Widgets in your admin panel and drag the “Twitter Followers List (STC)” widget to your sidebar.

    I haven’t set this one up before, but I have used Simple Facebook Connect which is quite similar and by the same developer, so I’m not 100% sure if my instructions are accurate.

    This is pretty much accurate — the tricky thing is the styling though, it’s not automatic. The CSS code to use is commented within the stc-followers.php file, and this needs to be copied into your theme’s css file, and most likely tweaked.
