We have been receiving 400 ERR logs displaying the following message on our platform Stripe account : “The provided PaymentMethod was previously used with a PaymentIntent without Customer attachment, shared with a connected account without Customer attachment, or was detached from a Customer. It may not be used again. To use a PaymentMethod multiple times, you must attach it to a Customer first.”

Although we are uncertain of the exact cause, we believe that a client using a stored card that is no longer associated with their account due to incorrect card information or too many failed attempts on the card.

If so, we would like to modify or add to the error message that is being presented to the client; otherwise, we would like to know the real cause of the error and the error code.

    Hello @markfme,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Did you switch Stripe accounts or keys on this site? This issue usually happens when there’s leftover information in your database linked to the previously connected account.

You can refer to this guide on how to fix it: https://woocommerce.com/document/stripe-fixing-customer-errors/

Please ensure you have a backup of your site just in case things go wrong before running any SQL queries, as the data will be deleted permanently. Most hosting companies have this included in the subscription, but you could also consider using a service like Jetpack.

Let us know how it goes!
