    Hola,

I’ve been using this plugin for a while and it’s been great.

However, I noticed that on my posts, when I move the cursor over my site images, instead of getting the alt title for the specific image, I see “post title 0”, “post title 1”, “post title 2” and so on.

    (example: https://hogarense.com/sarten-antiadherente-tramontina/)

But on the images on pages it seems to display the alt title correctly (the unique for each image as I defined it).

    (example: https://hogarense.com/sartenes/)

I’m not sure if it’s related to this plugin or not. I’m also using shortpixel for image optimization.

    Thanks for your kind comments.

    Denise

    Hello Denise,

Thanks for the good words about my plugin. I appreciate it.

The text you see when you hover is the title text and not the alt text. The free version can add title from the image filename and not from the post title, so I am guessing you are have Image Attributes Pro installed?

There are no options to add an incremental number to the image title, so I am not sure how this is possible. ( In fact, some users wanted this and I found it too hard to implement ?? )

Would you send me a screenshot of the plugin settings? If I am wrong and you do not have Image Attributes Pro, then please share the screenshots here. But if you are a premium customer, please use the support form so that we shall not violate forum guidelines about support for commercial products.

I will await your feedback. Kind regards.

Thanks for the feedback Denise. It looks like the image title is coming from somewhere else. Using post titles for image alt text and image title is part of the pro version.

Here are few things you could look for:

    • Check if the image titles are added manually. You can find them in the Gutenberg editor on the block settings when you click the image – https://jmp.sh/54ReyTVy
    • Check for other plugins that might be modifying the image title. SEO plugins and web optimizations plugins are the usual places to check. Some themes might have their own settings too.
    • Check for any code snippets in functions.php that is adding the image title.

I sincerely hope this helps. I am here to assist further until you find the answer.

Thanks a lot for your guidance Arun!

I found out what was happening.

For some reason, in most of my posts I’ve used the wordpress image block, which for some reason, it leaves empty the title text (as shown on your image).

For my pages I’ve used mostly the image block from GenerateBlocks, and thoses images somehow they had the title text filled (the same as the alt title).

Then, I checked my RankMath settings and I did have enabled the option to “add missing titles”.

So, once I turned it off, the posts with title text empty images show do not show anything when hovered, as expected.

    So, issue fixed and understood!

But, I’d like to ask if there is any reason why the wordpress image block does not add the title text as the other block does?
Is the plugin intended to work like this?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hello again Denise, I hope you are well. Just realized I haven’t replied to your last question. Glad you could fix the original issue that you were hoping to fix.

But, I’d like to ask if there is any reason why the wordpress image block does not add the title text as the other block does?

Is the plugin intended to work like this?

In the classic editor, you could add the image title, but there is no “proper” way to do that in the new editor (that I know of). The work-around I have is to update the image title at the time of publishing a post – https://imageattributespro.com/update-image-attributes-on-save-post/ (available only on Image Attributes Pro).

    Hope that helps a bit.
