The screenshot of what I am referring to for the SAME image:
    https://privatebin.support-tools.com/?0ef42acd8781fe6e#pdM8Y7PyMQrS4kB6ziU4T2PP45VmpgAC8pw+QxkoCbY=

The alt text and title are not translating over from Gutenberg Editor to Media Library.

In this screenshot, I demonstrate that in Gutenberg Editor the alt text is “paint by number tips and tricks” and the title attribute is “paint by number tips and tricks” while in the Media Library the alt text is blank and the title is incorrect with “paint-by-number-tips-and-tricks”.

This problem is not just happening to this image, but other images using the Gutenberg Editor. That’s why it is becoming an issue when I want to use an image from one blog post on another blog post because I have to use the Media Library.

I have contacted my host’s support and they said it had to do with Gutenberg not updating correctly on my site. I would really appreciate help since I’m not really techy and I’ve been trying to manage this problem for weeks now.

    Thanks!
    Tatiana

  • That’s by design… a feature, not a bug. It’s a one-way street: the attributes in the image will carry over into the editor, but not the other way round.

The attributes entered in the editor are for the specific page/post ONLY. They are not “attached” to or synched with the image.

I’m guessing the logic behind this is so you can use the same image in different contexts on different pageswith different titles, alts & captions. If what you added in the editor were synched with the image, then you’ll have the same attributes wherever the image is used… which would be undesirable for some use-cases.

    Hi George,

Thanks for helping me with your response. Do you have any sites or links that could point me in the right direction if something with this comes up again? I have to ask because I contacted about 5 “Support” folks before going on this forum and did not get a solvable response like yours.

    Best,

Sorry, for taking so loooooong to respond. Life got in the way ??

A WordPress site has so many pieces: hosting, domain name, your active theme, any of your active plugins, WordPress itself, and even your personal computer… any of which can be the cause of a problem.

So if you encounter any issue and you’re not sure where to go, just come over here to the www.remarpro.com support forums and clearly describe your problem: even if the problem is not related to the WordPress software itself and we can’t help you here, we’ll surely point you in the right direction to get the help you need.

    Good luck!
