@tkjgnws Can you follow the steps below and inform me if you are able to proceed with setup?
1. Temporarily switch your “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” from https://thero.ca to https://thero.ca in your WordPress General Settings configuration.
2. Logout of your WordPress admin dashboard
3. Log back in and then undo the changes you made (reverting back to the full address with https
4. Reset Site Kit and attempt setup once more

If that fails are you able to temporarily disable the SSO plugin listed in your Site Health information while attempting setup once more? It may be a plugin active from your hosting provider.

@jamesosborne thanks for your attempt here. I had to reinstall my OS due to another issue, and am now back at this. I tried both your suggestions (and also disabled all extensions in Firefox just in case it was getting blocked by something else), and it’s still a loop. Also updated site kit in the mean time.

here is my current site health. as you can see ti’s the only plugin i have active as well.

I don’t think my hosting provider provides any plugins, how would I determine this? The host is namecheap. I looked and couldn’t find any good documentation on this.

@tkjgnws Thanks for the update. Looking at the connected site you have verified with Site Kit is states http as opposed to https.

As your site is fully https can you attempt the reverse from your WordPress general settings? You’ll need to switch from https to http, before then logging out. Once you log back in switch back to https and try reset.

Hi there @jamesosborne, I thought I did do this – is there any way to ensure this is the case? Maybe it is because I did something in the wrong order (plugins disabled prior or after?)?

Is this https the most common cause of sitekit having this error?

When I go to settings from general > I show http rather than https..?

@tkjgnws Looking at your Site Health information the reference_url shows http as opposed to https. Can you try following the steps below, similar to what you just suggested:
1. Temporarily switch your “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)” from https://thero.ca to https://thero.ca in your WordPress General Settings configuration.
2. Logout of your WordPress admin dashboard
3. Log back in and then undo the changes you made (reverting back to the full address with https
