Alphabetical Results with Search

    Using Connections Business Directory plugin – Is there a way to have the results from a search (say by a street name) be able to be sorted alphabetically? There doesn’t seem to be an order to the results that populate. I can’t see another reason why I wouldn’t be able to click the Order By: “Alphabetical List” after the results come up.

    By default, the Connections list is already sorted alphabetically.

    When performing a search, the results are sorted by the database, not Connections, based on what the database thinks the results’ relevance is. Similarly to how searching WordPress pages or posts, the results are sorted by relevance and not by the page or post title. This is essentially how searches function in general. Another example is web search engines do not sort their results alphabetically.

    If you would like to filter the list by city, state, zip, and country that is possible but not down to the street level. Here’s how:

    1. Navigate to the Connections Settings admin page and click the Advanced tab.
    2. Scroll to the Links section.
    3. Enable the Locality, Region, Postal Code, and Country options.
    4. Save the changes.

    Now when you view the directory list, those address parts in the addresses will be links that, when clicked, will filter the list by the region that was clicked.
