I may have missed it, but is there some way to alphabetize concurrent events?

For example, I have 4 events scheduled from 9:00 – 11:00am on August 7th. They were originally added in this order: S, C, M, A.

When viewing Day View for the 7th, they appear in the order added:

    Event S
    Event C
    Event M
    Event A

I would like them to appear in Alphabetical order:

    Event A
    Event C
    Event M
    Event S

Thoughts about how to achieve this?

    Thanks!

    Hi keyspan,

As outlined in our forum guidelines, we aren’t able to help with these kinds of customizations. But we do have some handy resources that might be helpful for you:

? Themer’s Guide – provides an overview of how to customize the plugin’s frontend appearance.
? Tutorials – useful tips and tricks for changing how the plugin looks and behaves.

Good luck, and thanks for using The Events Calendar!

Argh. A cut and paste response, which I’ll admit is more than a little frustrating.

I would have thought that presenting a list of events in an ordered way so people can easily find them (which is a major reason for listing things like events) would be baked in to the plugin. It’s great to have them listed by date, but when you have 10-15 concurrent events running, the ordering needs to be a bit more refined than simply date, then time. I guess “organization” equals “customization”?

Since this is an issue of customization, I’d guess that purchasing the Pro version won’t solve the problem (or you would have mentioned that it’s a Pro version option here) so I’m sort of glad I decided to hold off on the purchase as I’ll now investigate other options.

But thank you for the timely (if canned) reply.

    Hi keyspan,

I’m sorry you were disappointed in my response. We do our best to help people out here in the forums, which is why I made sure to link you to the relevant support documents. We are only able to provide limited support to users of our free plugin, as the majority of our support resources are devoted to our premium support forums.

I’m sorry you feel that the events are unorganized, but for more people the ordering by date is more organized and sensical than alphabetized events. We do our best to have the default behavior of the plugin be relevant for the majority of our users. And for other folks like you, we have customization resources to allow you to do other things. You might also look into our premium Filter Bar plugin, which would allow your users to narrow down listed events by criteria like category, tag, venue, etc.

    Best,
    Leah
