I have a site hosted by DOT5. They have WordPress as the Blog application for users to install in their sites.

I have done it. However, I have discovered (through DOT5 support) that WordPress does not allow for comments in the Blog posts from the readers of the posts. That I, as the Blog adminstrator, have to provide them with a log in and password.

We have a large community of readers from whom we need to ask for comments on our posting…. Do you have a suggestion on how I can solve this problem?

    What is DOT5?

A “normal” install of WP can certainly allow comments by readers without having to register. Just login and visit Options -> General.

Uncheck “Users must be registered and logged in to comment”. Look for more related options under Options -> Discussion.

WordPress does not allow for comments in the Blog posts from the readers of the posts.

Comments are NOT made in posts but on posts.
Making a comment or posting a post (article, entry) are two different things.

For commenting you don’t need to give any kind of login or password, that’s a BS (go tell to that support forum ??
    – Just make sure you uncheck the “require login for commenting box”!
