• hi, i have a phpbb board with about 40,000 registered users, and i’d like to allow them to have their blogs in my site too, is there something i can do to allow those same registered users to have their own individual WP blog?

    thanks.

  • I’m working on OpenID support which should make that sorta thing a snap.

Edit: oops. No, setting them all up with individual blogs is a toughie.

You might have better luck asking on the WordPress multiuser boards.

I would talk to your ISP. They might be able to chron a wordpress blog for each new subdomain you launch? Seriously… talk to them. I bet it’s easier than you think. The only problem of course, will be having enough databases… and you would not want to push them all into one database, would you? That could be huge…

40k WP blogs would be insane. Why not set up ONE blog and just give the users permission to use it who you trust?

How do I set up my blog to permit others to use it?

    >How do I set up my blog to permit others to use it?

You mean permit others to use your admin area? Click PROMOTE to upgrade a user to an author, then you can set their level higher or lower in your author table.

I re-read my response and decided to add:

    1. Sign in as admin
    2. Click USERS
    3. Scroll down the the user you want to give permission to post stories in your blog.
    4. Click PROMOTE
    5. Give them a higher level (say 1 or 2) (see here for more details)
    6. They should be able to login and post stories now.

When I try to sisgn as admin, which I am, I get the login screen. Although using the correct username and password, I get an Error: Wrong login. When I click, Forgot password, I’m told that my email is not in the database. I’mstumped.
